Carriages of Regal Elegance have Popular Appeal
Beginning in the 17th and continuing through the 18th century, the Baroque taste for the elegant had a striking effect upon the design of carriages. Elaborate carriages were not new by any means. The vehicles used by Anne of Bohemia and later by Queen Elizabeth I were anything but simple. In the 1600s the taste for the exotic – some would say eccentric – led to an unparalleled magnificence in coaches.
