The Domestication of the Horse
What We Know

While numerous theories abound, the earliest definitive textual and artistic evidence for horse domestication dates only to 2000 BCE. Evidence of horses in graves, accompanied by disk cheekpieces of antler unmistakably associated with riding horses or harnessing them was discovered at the Sintashta chariot burials on the south steppe of the Ural Mountains in northern Kazakkhstan.
